For clients looking to migrate historical customer data from one systems into PBJ the customers ID becomes an important reference point
Particularly when an operator uses this for client verification - clients often have a strong association with this ID.
At present, there is no way for an operators to quickly and easily search for and verify a client based on historical IDs.

EF would back a shorter supporter number. Our supporters know their supporter account number and quote it regularly with our contact centre or include it in email comms. The 16 digit mixture of letter and number is going to be time consuming for both operators using the platform and for supporters alike.

Kirsty Moore: Hi Kirsty, unfortunately we are unable to change the format of the customer reference number; however, I do appreciate that the ID itself can be time consuming to type out. To overcome this issue, our Customer Support team tends to search for customers based upon other unique identifiers such as the customer's phone number or a combination of their phone number, first name and last name.

This will become important to us when we look at migrating our historical data. Customers call us and are familiar with quoting their "Supporter Number" as a method of verifying their identity. We also quote this number in correspondence as additional verification that emails and letters received from us are legitimate.

This will be critical to us rolling out.
